Learn more about Chemical Peels in Tampa
Chemical peels are used to resurface the skin. The agent is selectively applied to your skin with the purpose of exfoliating or removing the outer layer and part of the middle layer of the skin. They are considered a resurfacing procedure because once this outer layer is removed your body will regenerate a new layer of skin which will be smooth, fresh and have less wrinkles or color spots. Because of the cooler weather in the fall and winter as well as the less intense sunlight, September to March is the most popular time to get your chemical peel!
What Chemical Peel Does Dr Rayess use?
There are many different kinds of chemical peels. Dr Rayess’ favorite chemical peel is a TCA chemical peel (trichloro acetic acid). This chemical removes the outer layers of your skin in a controlled manner and is considered a medium depth peel. This peel should only be done by providers who are properly trained as it penetrates the skin deeper than the superficial chemical peels which are the most common ones.
Who is a good candidate for a chemical peel?
The TCA chemical peel is a great peel to resurface the skin in patients who have fine wrinkles in their facial skin and especially on the skin around the mouth. The chemical peel is also a good option for patients with sun spots or pigmented lesions that are a result of sun damage over the years.
How do I get a chemical peel in Tampa?
The first step is to schedule a consultation with Dr Rayess, who will go over your medical history and your skin history to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. Then you will likely need to start Retin A for at least 2-3 weeks prior to the procedure to prep your skin for the peel. This helps cleanse the outer layer of the skin so the peel can get in deeper. You will also need to avoid the sun for 2 weeks prior and 6 weeks after to minimize the risk of pigment issues after the peel.
What is the process of getting the chemical peel?
The peel takes about 30 minutes to perform in the office. It is better to have someone drive you over that day. We ask that you don’t wear any make up. We will then degrease your face and Dr Rayess will proceed to apply the peel. The peel will feel like a bad sun burn when it is applied. Some patients take a Tylenol to relax them during the process. Once your face is sufficiently peeled we will neutralize the peel before you go home. For the first day you won’t have to do anything. On the second day you will start cleaning your face.
What is the recovery process?
On the first day you go home and relax as there is nothing for you to do. On the second day you will start cleaning your face and applying the ointment according to the postop instructions. Your skin will start to peel on the 3rd day and this will last for 7 days. During this time it is critical that you do not pick at the peeling skin. You cannot apply makeup while your skin is peeling. So some downtime is critical. You must maintain good sun protection for 6 weeks after the peel to minimize the risk of any pigmentation changes.
Is it a painful procedure?
The most painful aspect is the application of the peel in the office. It feels like a bad sun burn. Once the peel is neutralized the burning sensation will start to fade away.
How much does a full face chemical peel cost?
The cost varies depending on the intensity of the peel applied and the areas to which it is applied. The range is $1400-$1700.

Facelift and Minilift Cost in Tampa and Palm Harbor
The topic of this blog post is going to be about the cost of a facelift procedure and the cost of a minilift.
This is a question we get asked often in our practice because it's one of the more common procedures that we do and would like to give patients more insight into what the cost is, what goes into the cost and what they can expect. We believe that transparency is important and patients need to understand the cost of the procedures they are interested in.
Facelift surgery is not covered by insurance therefore it is an out of pocket expense. At Rejuvenate the Face in Tampa we offer numerous financing options for our patients which you can learn more about here.
When you visit our practice we give you a total price that includes the price for anesthesia, the price for the operating room/assistants and the surgeon’s practice fee.
What is the average price of a mini facelift in Tampa and Palm Harbor?
At our practice a mini facelift is ideal for patients in their 40s and early 50s who have early signs of aging like jowls around the jawline, deepening nasolabial folds. These patients do not have much sagging in their neck. The recovery for a mini facelift is quicker than the regular facelift and patients experience less bruising. The average price for the RJF minilift is between $6400-$7200. This price is all inclusive including the surgeon fees and the price of the supplies.
What is the difference between the RJF mini facelift and a facelift?
The facelift at our practice involves lifting both the cheek and the neck. So if you have extensive sagging in the neck as well as the cheek and have banding in your neck then you will need a cheek neck lift or facelift. That procedure takes longer and involves more surgery hence the price increases to $9500-$10,400. These prices are intended to be an estimate for patients so they can understand the range of prices to expect and plan their finances accordingly. These are estimates for the total price which includes operating room fees and anesthesia fees.
Why is there a range of prices?
The reason for the range is certain cases are harder than others and it is difficult to list all the variables here, but for example, revision surgery usually has more scar tissue hence surgery can take longer. That is why after your consultation with the physician, where he will go over your expectations, the procedure and your medical history you will get an exact quote.

Buccal Fat Removal In Tampa
What is the buccal fat pad?
The buccal fat pad is a normal fat pad in your face that sits in your cheek under your cheek bones. It is a deep fat pad that functions to fill in the deep tissue spaces. If you have large buccal fat pads they can give your face a round appearance similar to a baby’s face.
What is the function of the buccal fat pad?
The main function of the buccal fat pad is to provide a gliding plane for your muscles of mastication, which are your chewing muscles. It’s location in the cheek allows these muscles to glide past each other.
Who is a candidate for buccal fat removal?
The ideal candidate for buccal fat removal are patients with fullness in their cheeks that tends to obscure their cheek bones. The cheek bones should be the widest part of the face, and light should reflect off of them. Excess buccal fat obscures the cheek bones and removing them can help highlight the cheek bones.
What other procedures do patients typically do with buccal fat removal?
Buccal fat removal is often combined with neck liposuction. Neck liposuction helps remove the excess fat under the jaw bone while buccal fat removal takes care of the fat above the jaw. This can give the face a nice strong jawline.
Can you get rid of buccal fat Naturally? Does buccal fat go away with weight loss?
No it does not. Due to genetic factors, blood supply and its isolated location the buccal fat pad tends to be resistant to weight loss. So while losing weight can make you slimmer overall, it will not have a significant impact on the buccal fat pad and your cheeks.
How much buccal fat can be removed?
The amount of buccal fat that needs to be removed depends on each patient’s anatomy. Typically, about 10cc of buccal fat is removed. The buccal fat pad is encapsulated that makes it easier to remove and on average 2 lobes are removed.
How much does buccal fat removal cost?
The average cost of buccal fat removal in Tampa is between $3400-$3900 dollars. This includes the physician fees and the facility fees.
Can you remove buccal fat pad without surgery?
No you cannot, its location in the face and the fact that it is encapsulated means that a surgical procedure is necessary to reduce the buccal fat. No facial exercises have been proven to reduce the buccal fat.
Is buccal fat removal permanent?
Yes it is. Once the fat pads are removed from the body they will not come back.
How is buccal fat removal surgery performed?
The surgery is performed from incisions on the inside of the mouth. It is usually done under local anesthesia. There are no external incisions.
Is buccal fat removal painful?
Most patients describe mild discomfort with buccal fat pad removal. It is not a very painful surgery.
How long until you see results from buccal fat removal?
Results can be seen 2 weeks after the surgery as the swelling starts to subside. Although some swelling can persist and it can take 3-4 months to see the final results.
What is the fastest way to recover from buccal fat removal?
During the first 7-10 days after the surgery you need to give time for the incision inside the mouth to heal. So avoid eating sharp and caustic foods and stick to a bland diet. Sometimes patients may also be prescribed a mouthwash to help keep the area clean as it heals.
Will removing my buccal fat pad make me look older?
As we age we lose volume in our faces, how much volume is lost depends on genetics for example Caucasian patients tend to lose more volume in their faces than other patients. Most of the time facial aging changes impacts the cheek fat pad and fat pads in the temple causing them to lose volume giving the face an older appearance. The buccal fat pad will also lose some volume as we age. How much is lost again depends on numerous factors that are very difficult to predict. The buccal fat pad is only a minor contribution to this and if the need arises you can also place filler or perform fat grafting to the area. But if you watch all the videos and information on filler you will know that these areas are rarely filled. Secondly the buccal fat pad can herniate from its location as we age contributing to sagging tissues and may need to be removed during a facelift. Look at this article to learn more.
Male Neck Lift in Tampa
Am I a candidate for male neck lift?
A direct neck lift for men is a procedure designed to help men who are bothered by sagging in the middle of their neck. Candidates for this procedure often suffer from loose skin in the middle of the neck and may have banding of the platysma muscle which manifests itself as fullness in the neck. Commonly patients will notice the excess skin from the side view. It is best to have undergone any major weight loss prior to the procedure.
How is the procedure performed?
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with some sedation, usually some relaxing pills to calm your nerves. You are awake and breathing on your own during the procedure. You do not need to have general anesthesia!
Where is the incision?
The incision is shaped like an urn under your chin going down to your adams apple. Prior to the procedure Dr Rayess will measure the excess skin and this is the amount of skin that will be removed surgically.
Will it leave a scar?
Anytime there is an incision there will be a scar. In most patients the scar is barely noticeable. We undermine the skin widely to remove any tension placed on the skin. Dr Rayess also makes sure to evert the skin so it will heal nicely. You will then have to keep it out of the sun, and you can apply silicone cream to help the scar heal. In most patients they have a barely noticeable scar.
In addition Dr Rayess breaks the incision up so that it is a z this makes it harder to perceive to the naked eye as peoples vision are attracted to straight lines. Broken lines are harder to notice.
Why are males the ideal candidates for this procedure?
This procedure is ideal for males because they have thicker skin in their neck. In addition men have hair follicles that can disguise the scar with their beard. It is also a quicker alternative to the facelift.
How is the direct neck lift different from a facelift?
The incision for a direct neck lift is different from a facelift . The Incision for a facelift performed by Dr Rayess is placed in the hairline. In men this means that hair bearing skin is moved behind the ear and you will have to shave there. That is not a major inconvenience, but something patients need to know about. The direct neck lift avoids that by placing the incision in the center. Both procedures allow us to tighten the muscles in the middle of the neck.
How is the direct neck lift different from a facelift?
The recovery is pretty simple. It is not a very painful procedure. The main thing is that if we do a platysmaplasty, which is tightening of the muscles in the middle of the neck you should keep your neck still for 14 days to avoid popping any sutures free. We will recommend that you eat soft foods initially to avoid moving your jaw bone. Otherwise you have to take it easy, find a few good shows to watch and enjoy them!
Aging Face? Causes and Treatment options in Tampa
There are 3 main changes to the face as we age. Dr Rayess likes to describe them as the three D’s of the aging face; the first one is Descent or Droopiness, the second is Deflation and the third is Deepening wrinkles. Each change has a different treatment option depending on the patient’s anatomy and how severe the changes are.
Treatment of loss of facial volume
For deflation you have 2 main options. The first option is synthetic filler. The product is actually based on a molecule that is naturally present in your body in large amounts and the whole process can be done over a lunch break. The product usually lasts about 1 to 2 years. The second option is using your own fat. This requires a procedure where fat is harvested from areas where you have persistent fat and then injected into your face and has a slightly longer recovery time. Your ideal option depends on your time frame, how quickly you need to get back to work and the level of deflation.
Treatment of Jowls and facial sagging
For descent or drooping of tissues you really need a lifting procedure and your main options are either a lower facelift or lower neck lift depending on where you’re most bothered by the sagging. Some people are using a thread lift. While they do provide some short term results their longevity is debatable.
Dealing with wrinkles
Lastly we have deepening wrinkles. Wrinkles initially appear when you are actively moving your muscles. As you get older they start to be present at rest or statically. Prevention is the best treatment for this. Starting at a young age, taking care of your skin, avoiding the sun, wearing sunscreen, wearing hats when you go out, avoiding smoking and using routine medical grade skin care. All that will help. After these wrinkles develop your best treatment option is a resurfacing procedure such as a chemical peel or Laser and Dr. Rayess is an expert on all these options and will discuss them with you during a complimentary consultation in North Tampa, feel free to schedule an appointment here!
What I can do about persistent neck fullness?
Are you bothered by fullness under your chin? Do you find yourself constantly pushing your chin forward to get a nicer contour? If so then you maybe a good candidate for liposuction of the neck. Slim lipo is a unique technique were dual wavlengths are used to shrink the fat and then helps tighten the skin. A small incision hidden behind the chin is all that is needed to access the area and introduce the laser. Because the laser coagulates blood vessels bruising is kept to a minimum.
Who are good candidates?
Patients who have excess skin and fullness in their submental area or area under their chin are good candidates for this. In patients who have a lot of redundant skin in their neck then they will need additional surgery to reposition and remove the excess skin. In addition, for patients who have bands in their neck that bother them we can help correct them at the same time but this will require a different procedure which we can discuss later.
Liposuction of the neck can be performed with local anesthesia, which means we place medication in the skin that will numb the area we are treating and we avoid putting in IV and having you go to sleep. Because of this treatment time is about 45 minutes and your total time in the office is about 2 hours so you still have the rest of the day to do whatever you need!
Postop care is minimal. You can go back to your routine the next day!
Slimlipo of the neck is a quick and effective procedure for neck fullness.
