UNDER EYE FILLER IN TAMPA
What causes dark circles underneath your eyes?
There are 2 main causes of under eye discoloration. Dark circles under the eye can be caused by under eye bags. It can also be caused by pigment deposition in the skin. The shadow effect is more easily corrected the superficial pigment is not.
What Causes Under Eye Bags?
The under eye is one of the most delicate places to inject. The tear trough or under eye bags develop as we age due to sagging or descent of the cheek tissue and loss of volume in the cheek, and because fat that is normally contained within the orbit (eye socket) starts to protrude out. This can cause a shadow under the eye giving the patient a tired appearance.
What are the treatment options for the tear trough?
Filler
Filler is placed in the hollow area in between the fat that has herniated out and the cheek. This smoothens the transition between the lower lid and the cheek. It can last about 1 year.
Under Eye Surgery
Surgery involves an incision on the inside of the eyelid and the excess fat is surgically removed. I then take fat from your body abdomen or lateral thighs and inject that into the hollow areas to build it back up.

What is the process of getting under eye filler?
Dr Rayess uses only thin fillers in the under eye because it is the thinnest skin in the body. Under eye filler injections at Rejuvenate the face are usually done over 2 sessions because of this. Issues that can arise with this procedure include feeling lumps or bumps under the eye, those usually settle down over 2-3 weeks. Bruising is also possible with any injection but especially under eye injections because of the tiny vessels that travel there under the skin. Patients who take aspirin, or vitamin E and fish oils are at increased risk. The bruising is temporary and resolves within one week.
Why is cheek filler often recommended with under eye filler?
Many times Dr Rayess will recommend cheek filler with the under eye filler. The reason is that the cheek and the under eye have to be viewed as one complex. In patients who have flat cheeks or a negative vector, which means the eye ball portrudes infront of the cheek, then the cheek needs to be augmented to smoothen the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek.
