Moles or skin lesions often appear on the face. They can be due to numerous different causes. Most commonly they occur because of a growth of pigment cells or melanocytes in the body and are harmless. People often desire to have them removed for cosmetic or aesthetic reasons. The most important thing is to ensure that these lesions do not have any malignant or cancer cells in them. We will often send the specimen to a pathologist to examine the specimen under a microscope.
