How is upper eyelid surgery performed? Are you put to sleep?
This is an outpatient procedure that can be done using oral medications for sedation without an IV. The patient goes home the same day. On the day of surgery Dr Rayess will carefully measure the amount of excess skin in your eyelids and ensure that enough remains for you to be able to close your eye. You will have an incision in your upper eyelid area about 10mm above the lash line. This incision will initially be red and lumpy but will heal nicely over time.
How long does it take to recover from upper eyelid surgery?
Swelling and bruising are common in the first five days after the surgery but they quickly subside after one week.
