Who is Dr Rayess and what exactly does a facial plastic surgeon do?

Yes you will need to meet Dr Rayess prior to surgery to discuss what your best options are. Dr Rayess will go over in detail the risks of the procedure, the benefits and the expected recovery.
What is filler?
Dr Rayess uses hyaluronic acid or (HA) based fillers. HA is a natural substance occurring in our bodies. It is very well tolerated. The filler is used to fill areas of deflation and can be used in the lips, in the smile lines, under the eyes and many other places. Schedule a consult to learn more.
How are fillers injected?
The whole process takes about 30 minutes and can be done over lunch time. Once you and Dr Rayess agree to proceed, we will clean your skin with alcohol and place topical numbing cream for about 20 minutes. We will then remove the cream and Dr Rayess will place the filler. Afterwards the recovery is simple you cannot put make up on for one day. There is a risk of bruising when you get injections this usually subsides within 7-10 days. Taking aspirin, vitamin E NSAIDs and other blood thinner increases your risk of bruising.
What is Botox or neuromodulator?
Botox is an agent that paralyzes muscles. This will help soften wrinkle formation in forehead, the "11"s in between your eyes and the fine wrinkles on the side of your eyes. We inject botox all the time and Dr Rayess is an expert at it. Its a quick that procedure that can be done over a lunch break. The main restriction is no heavy activity for 24 hours following the procedure. It takes about 10 days for the full effects to kick in and lasts about 3 months.
How many units of Botox will I need?
Typically you will need 15-20 units in the forehead, 20 units in between the eyes and 20 units around each eye. These are average amounts the total amount is dependent on the patient. Dr Rayess will discuss with you your goals, and come up with a plan catered to your needs. Dr Rayess will work with you and will see you back in 2 weeks for a follow up to assess the results. If you need some more at that time it is easy to add.
What is a lip lift?
A lip lift is a procedure performed to shorten the white portion of the upper lip. Candidates for this procedure include patients who complain that they cant see their teeth when they smile, or patients who have received repeated filler injections but are not pleased with the results. The procedure is performed in the office and the incision is placed at the junction of the nose and the lip. The sutures come out between 5-7 days after the surgery. At that point you will be able to cover the incision with gentle make up. The scar can take up to 3 months to heal.
What is an eyelid lift or blepharoplasty?
An eyelid lift is a procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the upper eyelid. It can be done under local anesthesia in the office. THe sutures will come out in 5-7 days. Its a painless procedures. Swelling and bruising will last about 7 days. The incision heals very nicely and people will not notice it.
What is a browlift?
As we age our brows sag, especially on the side. This can lead to excess or redundant skin around the eyes. Many times patients think it is excess eyelid skin but it is very important to differentiate between excess eyelid skin and excess brow skin because the treatment is different. Dr Rayess is an expert at this. Dr Rayess performs a browlift in the office that helps lift up the outer portion of the eyebrow. The incision is hidden in the eyebrow hairs and heals very nicely. Sutures are removed at 5 days. It can cause some bruising and swelling around the eyes for 7 days.
What is buccal fat?
Buccal fat is the fat present in your cheeks when you are a baby. It can give a chubby cheek appearance in some people. Ideally the widest point where the light reflects should be the cheek bones. Removing the buccal fat in select patients can help highlight the cheeks and the jawline. The incision is inside the mouth and heals nicely.
What can I do about persistent fat under my neck?
Fat under the neck can be bothersome for many people. Dr Rayess performs liposuction of the neck to help remove excess fat. You will be required to wear a chin strap for a week. The procedure is quicker and more effective than Kybella which requires multiple treatments.
What can I do about Sagging around my jaw?
The sagging around your jaw is best treated with a cheek and neck lift if you have sagging around you neck. This is typically done under IV anesthesia like getting a colonoscopy. You will have incisions around your ear. You go home the same day. For one week you will have bruising and swelling. 4 weeks off from strenuous activity.
