Facelift in men has many similarities and some differences from women. The aging face does not differ between men and women.
There are 3 main changes to the aging face that Dr Rayess likes to describe to his patients, and they can be summarized as the 3 ”Ds”
There are 3 main changes to the aging face that Dr Rayess likes to describe to his patients, and they can be summarized as the 3 ”Ds”
- Descent or droopiness of tissue. This is sagging of tissue due to loss of elasticity and results in the formation of a loose neck, jowls and deepening of your nasolabial folds or smile lines.
- Deflation this results from loss of volume both fat and bony loss. To counter this you need to add volume back and your options are filler or fat grafting to the face using your own fat. Dr Rayess performs both of these procedures.
- Deepening wrinkles fine lines on the face start to get deeper. These wrinkles are often the result of sun damage to the skin. To treat these you need a resurfacing procedure such as a chemical peel or laser.
Facelift surgery for men in Tampa
Dr Rayess is an expert in male facelifts. He prioritizes concerns that are specific to the male facelift including incision placement in patients with beards and balding hair. Dr Rayess performs the deep plane facelift. This will reposition the deeper SMAS layer and he then removes the excess skin. Male patients are often concerned that the surgery will feminize their face. Dr Rayess is aware of these concerns and makes adjustments to ensure his patients have natural results. The patient will be seen in the office on the first day after surgery to ensure everything is healing appropriately. Sutures and staples are then removed at the one week point.
Where are the incisions placed for a male facelift? Will there be a scar?
The placement of the incisions differs in men than in women. For men Dr Rayess will provide you with the option of the incision going along the back of your tragus which is the piece of cartilage that sticks out on the front of the ear, or in front of it. Going behind the cartilage hides the incision better but often means you will have to shave the hair bearing skin that is repositioned there. In addition if you have long sideburns that are important to you, Dr Rayess will take this into consideration and appropriately place your incision to preserve them. In men facelifts also mean they will have to shave the skin that is behind ear as hair bearing skin from the neck will be repositioned there. It is best to shave with an electric shaver initially until full sensation returns to the skin to avoid inadvertent cuts.
What is the difference between a male neck lift and facelift?
A male facelift addresses:
- Helps to elevate the midface and can soften the nasolabial fold.
- Helps to improve jowls around the mandible
- Reverses volume descent
- Sagging in the neck
- vertical bands in the neck
DIRECT NECK LIFT FOR MEN IN TAMPA
A direct neck lift by Dr Rayess is an ideal option for men who do not want the downtime associated with a facelift. A direct neck lift involves excision of the excess skin in the neck and tightening the platysma muscle if it is necessary. This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia without an IV and takes about 1.5 hours. The sutures are removed at one week and the scar will fade over time.
